Hy-Vee No Excuses Nutrition Bootcamp
Take control of your health with the help of your Waukee Hy-Vee Dietitians and find your strength in numbers. Learn strategies to help you tackle your health problems such as food cravings, weight gain, low energy and/or poor sleep. Boost your accountability and make meal planning a breeze every Tuesday from September 11-November 13. The classes are from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Waukee Hy-Vee Meeting Room. The cost is $200 for ages 18 and up. Register!
Sunflower Fine Art
For adults, classes are designed around five categories of interest; landscape, architecture, plants, animals and people. Choose any one or multiple categories. Classes will include basic sketching, still life and color painting, and combining those techniques together. Everyone will enjoy the feeling of being an artist in the studio, while creating images from memorable times in your life. All classes for ages 17 and up will be held from 9-11 a.m. The studio is located at 268 W. Hickman Road. The cost of $135 includes materials.

Movie Matinee in the Miner’s
Join the Waukee Public Library the second Thursday of every month for a different movie on the Library’s big screen. Enjoy everything from major blockbusters to classics. All movies are free, and refreshments are available. Movies start at 10 a.m. No registration is required.

Library Lunch & Learn
No time to attend an evening or weekend program? Try the Library’s new Lunch & Learn series! A different speaker will educate attendees the first Friday of the month at the Waukee Community Center at 11 a.m. Bring your brown bag lunch, and we will provide the dessert! Stick around afterward for bingo at 1 p.m.

- September 7 - Estate Planning 101 (Learn the ins-and-outs of putting a well thought-out estate plan in place, and with peace of mind get back to the business of living and enjoying your life.)
- October 5 - DNA Basics (Get insight into the different test services available, the process and the usefulness of DNA testing as a tool to learn more about your health, traits and ancestry.)
- November 2 - POWs in Iowa During World War II (Approximately 30,000 German, Italian and Japanese prisoners
of war spent part of the war in Iowa. They were captured enemy soldiers who were brought to the cornfields of Iowa to work at farms, canning factories, hemp mills or seed corn companies. Learn about the two main camps in Iowa, Algona and Clarinda, as well as the 17 branch camps also utilized.)
Gather with friends at the Waukee Community Center, and test your luck on the first Friday of each month (March-November) after the Library's Lunch and Learn program. Bingo costs $1 + $.10 per card with a maximum of two cards at one time. Play lasts from 1-2:30 p.m. No registration is required.

Inbound Iowa Loess Hills Day Trip - Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018
The Loess Hills are shaped by nature; these majestic hills are the hallmark of a road trip in Western Iowa.While the lavender is still blooming, smell, see, pick and taste this delectable plant during a lunch stop. Then a step-on guide will take you through parts of the Loess Hills. Visit the DeSoto Wildlife Refuge where the Steamboat Bertrand Collection is on display. A trip to an orchard and a stop at the Manning Hausbarn are also on the agenda. The fee of $139 includes transportation, lunch, all admissions and gratuities. Register!
Vikings vs. Lions Road Trip - Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018
We’re heading back to U.S. Bank Stadium to see the Minnesota Vikings take on the Detroit Lions! Ride along to Minneapolis on Sunday, Nov. 4 to watch the inner conference rivalry. Seating will be in the corner end zone, level 305. Game time is noon*; the charter bus will depart early Sunday morning around 6 a.m. There will be one stop for restrooms and food each way, and travelers are welcome to bring food and beverages on the bus. Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. The fee includes transportation, parking and a ticket to the game. Registration will open online Monday, Aug. 27 at 8 a.m. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
