As the City of Waukee continues to enjoy steady growth and expansion, the need for additional public safety staff also increases. The Waukee Police Department is proud to announce the hiring of new officer Kyle Terlouw. Waukee City Clerk Becky Schuett swore Officer Terlouw in to his new position in a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 23 at the Waukee Public Safety Building.
Kyle is native of Sully, Iowa and a graduate of Lynnville-Sully High School. He attended Iowa Central Community College and the University of Iowa where he graduated with degrees in Criminal Justice, Sociology and Criminology. He also played football as a defensive lineman while attending both institutions. Officer Terlouw graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 2016 and served with the Jefferson Police Department prior to joining Waukee.
“We are so lucky to have Officer Terlouw join the Waukee PD,” said Waukee Police Chief John Quinn. “He really proved himself as a valuable member of the Jefferson Police Department, and quite frankly he is just an all-around good guy. He will be a strong addition to our team here.”
The department is in the process of hiring at least one more officer for the upcoming fiscal year.
