October is National Community Planning Month

All month long we are celebrating the lasting value that thoughtful and innovative planning has for the City of Waukee. Get to know the planners in Waukee, learn about the local planning initiatives underway and maybe even attend your first planning-related meeting. Planning & Zoning Commission meetings are held the second and fourth Tuesdays or each month at 6 p.m. at Waukee City Hall. See what development projects are going on in the City today.

Meet the Waukee City Planners:

Hometown: Mason City, Iowa

Family: Wife Amber; Kids Max (13), Hannah (11) and Sawyer (5); Dog Gemma (Dachshund)

What Brad likes about being a planner in Waukee: It is very gratifying to be involved with the initial stages of a project and see it through to completion, and then see how it impacts people on a daily basis. Waukee is such a wonderful community with so many opportunities for growth and expansion, and really is a dream community for a City Planner. With good planning and strategic decision-making, Waukee has the potential to become a premier community within the State of Iowa.

What Andy likes about being a planner in Waukee: There is so much of Waukee that is like a blank canvas, and that gives us the opportunity to really shape what the community is going to look and feel like 30 years from now.
