The Waukee Public Library Winter Reading Program starts November 15! This year’s theme is "Shake, Rattle & Read”. All ages of children, teens and adults can read or listen to books and turn in reading logs. At the end of the winter, participants will be entered to win prizes. The program goes through January 31. Participants may register at any time and log hours online at WaukeeLibrary.Beanstack.org.

“Winter is a great time of year to curl up with a good book,” said Youth Services Librarian Keri Weston-Stoll. “We think by providing incentives and activities related to reading, we can help encourage reading for fun for people of all ages.”

The library will host a kick-off event on Saturday, Nov. 18. The 10 a.m. Shake, Rattle & Roll Sock Hop will feature a dance party and fun activities with Mo Willems characters Elephant and Piggie. Not only will the Sock Hops provide fun dancing and reading, but participants are encouraged to bring unopened packages of socks for donation to the Waukee Community Closet. All sizes of socks are welcome. Registration is required for this event. Visit Beanstack to register.
