On January 19, 49 City of Waukee staff members spent their lunch hours at Meals from the Heartland, packing meals for local food pantries (like the Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry) and disaster areas around the world. Meals from the Heartland is a non-profit organization geared toward eliminating life-threatening hunger.

In total, staff members packed 14,256 meals! 2017 employee charitable contributions to Meals From the Heartland paid for the ingredients for those meals.
