Frank Hoifeldt was chosen for Citizen of the Year by a committee consisting of Mayor Peard; Dr. Dave Wilkerson, Waukee Community School District Superintendent; Wendy Marsh, Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce President; and Terry Snyder, 2014 Citizen of the Year.
Hoifeldt was nominated by Waukee Family YMCA Executive Director Eric Kress. In the nomination letter, Kress elaborated on many key service impacts of which Hoifeldt was involved. He was the YMCA’s 2009 Adult Volunteer of the Year and the Chairman of the Board from 2010-2012. He was instrumental as a volunteer in helping the Y set a foundation for success as they opened their new facility in 2009.
Aside from the Y, Hoifeldt held leadership roles with the City’s Planning & Zoning Commission, the Waukee City Council, the Waukee Park Board, the Waukee Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, the Waukee Development Roundtable, the Waukee Green Initiative and more. He was also recognized by the AIA Iowa Citizen Architect Program in 2010.
“Frank Hoifeldt is a true public servant. He’s touched every facet of this community that improves lives for our residents – health and fitness, city planning, the library, our parks and beyond,” said Waukee Mayor Bill Peard. “His efforts show selflessness, and he is well deserving of this honor.”
As Citizen of the Year, Hoifeldt will be honored at an open house reception soon to be scheduled, where he will be presented with a proclamation and Key to the City by Mayor Peard. He will also have the honor of riding in the Celebrate Waukee and Fourth of July parades.
