At the July 11 Special Meeting, the Waukee City Council voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Anna Bergman to fill the vacant fifth seat on the at-large council. The seat was vacated by former City Councilman Shane Blanchard, who resigned on June 1.
Bergman, who says she was already planning to run for Waukee City Council in the next election, is a lifetime resident of Waukee. She graduated from Drake University with Doctor of Law and Master of Business Administration degrees. She owns Bergman Riding Academy, located in Waukee, and also works as a staff negotiator for Corporate Contract.
“I wanted to get involved with making decisions to attract and retain young professionals and local businesses. The opportunity to work with the current council is a great one, and I really look forward to bringing a fresh perspective,” Bergman said. “Waukee is my hometown, and it’s full of wonderful, hard-working people. I’m honored to represent them.
Bergman will be sworn in at the Monday, July 18 Regular Meeting.
