Waukee Police Make the Holidays Bright for Area Children

shop with a cop 2016

The Waukee Police Department participated in its annual Shop With a Cop program on Saturday, Dec. 10. The day started with the Waukee Fire Department serving up breakfast for the 14 families involved in the program. Officers also created free child IDs for each of the children. The ID machine was on loan from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.

Following morning activities, officers loaded the kids into squad cars and traveled to Wal-Mart for some holiday shopping. They returned to the Waukee Public Safety Building to wrap presents and then enjoyed a pizza lunch.

The PD would like to thank the various Waukee residents and City employees who donated to the cause as well as Stivers Ford, Gilcrest Jewett, Shottenkirk Chevrolet, Brick Law Firm, the Medders Family, and Charles and Judy Black. This was the third year the department provided this service to the community.
