New Waukee internet provider mi-fiber, LLC is now putting up informational door hangers throughout Waukee. The company has also begun construction to install fiber in certain areas of the City. The company's goal is to cover the entire City by the end of its phase-based project.

“We are very eager and excited to begin construction of the mi-fiber fiber optic network, said CEO Ron Hinds. "Response from the Waukee community has been enthusiastic and friendly, just as we expected."

Mi-fiber is now accepting sign-ups for its first two "fiberhoods" - sectors D and C. The mi-fiber website features an interactive map which shows the fiberhoods and the order in which they will be served. Interested residents not included in the first fiberhoods can submit an online interest form. The company will determine from interest volume where to expand next.

Construction has begun. The City issued a utility permit to mi-fiber. The permit allows utility contractors to lay fiber under any utility easements within the City of Waukee. Some property owners may find that these easements are located on their properties. With the City-issued permit, mi-fiber is allowed to dig in the easements in order to construct its fiber system. However, mi-fiber is also responsible for restoring any disturbed areas to their original conditions. Call Waukee Public Works at 515-978-7920 with any questions regarding the permit or utility easement access.
