  2. World War I and the Black Officers' Training Program

    Commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the United States' entry into World War I with presentation from Jack Lufkin, the History Curator at the National Historic Landmark Fort Des Moines Museum and Education Center. Jack will discuss the Black Officers' Training Program that occurred at the fort during World War I. A brief documentary film will be shown and there will be a discussion.

  4. Citywide Garage Sale

    April 29, 2017, All Day

    Waukee residents hold many garage sales throughout the City on the Saturday prior to the Citywide Clean-Up Events. This year's Clean-Up Week is May 1-6 which would put the Citywide Garage Sale day on Saturday, Apr. 29. Note: This is not a City of Waukee-sponsored event. It is a designated day for private citizens to join many others in hosting garage sales. All advertising and time-setting for the sales is done so on an individual basis.

  5. National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

    April 29, 2017, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Waukee Public Safety Building

    The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. Waukee area residents can be a part of the effort. The Waukee Public Safety Building at 1300 SE L.A. Grant Parkway will be open Saturday, Apr. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept pills for disposal. Prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding your home of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. A Drug Drop-Box is also located in the lobby of the Waukee Public Safety Building year-round for drop-off Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
