Situated on the west side of the Des
Moines Metropolitan Area, Waukee is strategically located five minutes
west of Interstate 35, and borders Interstate 80 to the south. These
two interstates represent the nation's only border-to-border, coast-to-coast
interstate crossroads.
US Highway 6, which has recently been converted into a 4–Lane Highway,
is the main arterial connection to Interstate 35/80 to our east, and other
Dallas County communities to our west. The City is currently in the process
of adding another interstate interchange off Interstate 80 that will eventually
connect with Alice’s Road to the north. With the Union Pacific Railway
going through the heart of Waukee, we also have the capacity to move quantities
of goods through rail service. Des Moines
International Airport and the beautiful capitol of Iowa is an easy 15-minute
drive from Waukee. Major airports located in Chicago (325 miles), Minneapolis
(250 miles), Kansas City (195 miles), and Omaha (135 miles) are within a two-to-five
hour drive of Waukee. |
