At a reception held on Thursday, May 5, Vivian Wilson was recognized as Waukee's 2010 Citizen of the Year. During the reception, Mayor Bill Peard noted that Wilson was nominated for the award by the Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry for her extraordinary commitment and dedication toward that organization, and for her lifetime of work toward the betterment of the community. Wilson had requested that those in attendance at her reception bring a canned food donation, resulting in many sacks of food donated to the Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry.
Mayor Peard also presented Wilson with a framed proclamation and a Key to the City in honor of her years of dedication and service to the community. Wilson will also be recognized as the 2010 Citizen of the Year by riding in Waukee's 4th of July and Waukee Fest parades.
