Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

Blast to the Past: Apollo Moon Program Talk & NASA Exhibit Opening

Come join us for an evening back through time to the summer of ’69! NASA “Extravehicular Activity” Photo Exhibit Opening – 6:00 pm View our newest Gallery exhibit before anyone else! On loan from NASA, “Extravehicular Activity” showcases 20 of the most iconic photos of EVAs throughout United States space history. Space-themed snacks will be served. One Giant Leap: The Amazing Technology of the Apollo Moon Program – 6:30 pm This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing! NASA Solar System Ambassador Dan Hoy will talk about the technologies that made the first human Moon landing possible—using photographs, audio clips, video segments, models, and 1960s era memorabilia. Des Moines metro and Iowa connections to NASA’s Apollo Moon effort will also be discussed!
