Be Prepared for the Snow Ordinance and Parking Bans

snow plow web

If snow is forecast for Waukee, the Public Works Department will often implement the City's snow ordinance (Waukee Municipal Code §502.17) and emergency parking ban. During this time, all public street parking is prohibited. Every attempt is made to get City streets clear of snow as quickly and safely as possible. The parking ban shall continue through the duration of the snow or ice storm and the 48-hour period following the end of the weather event or other time designated by the Public Works Department. Vehicles remaining on City streets are subject to $25 fines and/or towing.

The ordinance news is shared with the local media, on the City website, through social media and via Nixle. Nixle provides emergency alerts and community notices, including snow ordinance notifications, street closures and more. Signing up for the service is free and easy.
