Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

  1. Storytime in the Park

    August 2, 2019, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ Windfield Open Air Shelter

    The Library and the Waukee Parks & Recreation Department have partnered to offer this free program to young bookworms (ages 0-5). Enjoy themed Storytimes including colors, ducks, plants and movement, followed by a different craft or activity each day following the stories. Please bring a tricycle or bicycle on August 9, for a short ride along the Storywalk. If you are a daycare center planning to attend, please notify Danae at Parks & Rec, 515-978-0007, to ensure there are enough craft supplies. This event is held at the Windfield Park Open Shelter unless there is inclement weather, then it will be at the Waukee Public Library.   2. Lunch & Learn: Historical Highlights of the Iowa State Fair

    August 2, 2019, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Community Center

    The internationally-acclaimed Iowa State Fair is the single largest event in the state of Iowa and one of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country. In this fascinating presentation, Iowa State Fair CEO Gary Slater will take you on a journey through the Fair’s history—from its beginnings back in 1854 to current happenings in 2019. Gary will also share some of his favorite stories about the Fair and show some historic photos from the fair archives. ___________ No time to attend an evening or weekend program? Try our new Lunch & Learn series! We’ll have a speaker every first Friday of month at the Waukee Community Center (675 Walnut St). Bring your brown bag lunch and we’ll provide the dessert! Stick around afterwards for Waukee Parks & Recreation’s bingo at 1pm. This program is brought to you in partnership with Waukee Parks & Recreation.

    August 2, 2019, 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM @ Community Center

    Gather with friends at the Waukee Community Center and test your luck the first Friday of each month from 1-2:30 p.m. after the library’s Lunch and Learn program. Bingo will take place March-November. No registration is required. The cost is $1 plus $0.10 per card played per round (two maximum).

    Enjoy Hollywood's biggest hits under the stars at Movies in the Park! Waukee Parks & Recreation and the Waukee Park Board welcome citizens to bring lawn chairs, blankets and refreshments, and get ready to make memories with family and friends.
