Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

If you’ve been wanting to join a book club but are not sure you’re up for the time commitment or the people-ing—this is the book club for you. Each month there’s a new book selection, but there’s never a meeting. Copies of each month’s book may be picked up on the first of the month at the library’s front desk, while supplies last.   2. Library Art Gallery Exhibit: "Welcome to My World" by Robert D. Peterson

    Fine art prints by Cedar Rapids, Iowa artist Robert D. Peterson covers a broad range of subjects and techniques. Landscapes, barns, lighthouses, violins, penguins, and international subjects are some of the themes used. Many intaglio printmaking techniques are used by Mr. Peterson, these include: etching, engraving, drypoint, mezzotint, woodcut, and wood engraving. Robert’s many travels through the back roads of the USA and abroad gives never ending inspiration to his printmaking.

  6. Decorate a Valentine Box

    February 8, 2020, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM @ Waukee Public Library

    Students in K-5 are welcome to design their own boxes for upcoming Valentine’s Day parties. All boxes and decorating supplies are provided. Care-givers need to remain in the program room for this event. Registration is required and will open 3 weeks prior to the event. Unregistered participants are welcome to come to the library on stand-by the day of the event and will be admitted to the program if space allows.

  7. Sensory Spaces

    February 8, 2020, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Waukee Public Library

    The library will be open an extra hour to provide quiet browsing and inclusive programming for individuals of all ages with special sensory needs and their families or care-givers. The library will offer a dimmed calm room, computer availability and access to library materials. At this event, we will offer an opportunity for making valentines. Waukee has collaborated with 10 other metro-area libraries to offer two libraries a month hosting these ongoing sensory-friendly events. Individuals are encouraged to contact the hosting library for more details on activities at that location. No registration required.
