[ARCHIVED] Wet Weather Changes Fall Goals for Alice's Road Project

alices arial web oct

Extremely wet weather in June, early September and now into October has slowed crews working on the project to widen Alice's Road. The contractor and City staff have modified the construction timeline.

The storm sewer utility is still being installed on the west side of Alice’s Road. Paving of the outside two southbound lanes from Olson Drive to Laurel Drive has been completed; the contractor is now working paving the inside lane. The main goal still this fall is to complete paving on the western three (southbound) lanes of Alice's Road all the way from NE Horizon Drive to Olson Drive. Traffic will then move onto the new lanes while the eastern lanes close for demolition. Concrete crews will pick back up when weather allows in early spring 2019 to pave the eastern three (northbound) lanes.

As planned, further widening and paving work will occur at the intersection of Alice's Road and Hickman Road in spring 2019. It is expected that the project will be completed by June 2019.

The City of Waukee would like to thank Waukee drivers for their patience, as weather has proven to be a real hindrance during Phase 5 of the Alice's Road Widening Project. As always, visit the Alice's Road webpage for updates, or subscribe to direct Alice's Road notifications
