Construction was recently completed on the new western lanes of Alice's Road. With all finishing details wrapping up for the winter, the contractor plans to transition traffic from the existing "old" lanes of Alice's Road to the new lanes on the west. The switch will occur the evening of Thursday, Dec. 13 beginning at 8 p.m. Southbound traffic on Alice's Road north of Hickman Road will be detoured onto NE Horizon Drive, NE Westgate Drive and Hickman Road for traffic control set up north of Hickman Road. See detour map. At the same time, southbound traffic on Alice’s Road (Hickman Road to SE Olson Drive) will be switched onto the new pavement. Once traffic control set-up north of Hickman Road is complete, southbound traffic on Alice’s Road (north of Hickman Road) will be reopened on the new west lanes.
Following those changes, the contractor will detour northbound traffic on Alice’s Road (south of Hickman Road) onto SE Olson Drive, SE Brick Drive and Hickman Road to accommodate traffic control set up south of Hickman Road. See detour map. At this same time, northbound traffic on Alice’s Road (north of Hickman Road) will be switched onto the new pavement. Once traffic control set up south of Hickman Road is complete, northbound traffic on Alice’s Road (south of Hickman Road) will be reopened on the new west lanes.
The process will start at 8 p.m. and should be completed within 4-5 hours. Drivers are encouraged to take it slow and be extra attentive as everyone adjusts to the lane switch. Following the completion of the traffic switch, the eastern lanes will be fully closed awaiting construction in the spring. The entire Alice's Road widening and intersection work should be completed by June 2019.
