On Saturday, April 27, the Waukee Parks & Rec, Police and Fire Departments joined forces to host Home Alone Awareness Camp at the Waukee Public Works Building. More than 60 kids kindergarten through fifth grade were in attendance for this fun, educational program. Participants engaged in a Q&A with the firefighters and the police officers, toured public safety vehicles and watched short videos. The videos covered home safety, what to do during a fire and what to avoid when surfing the internet. This is an annual program. Check the program guide next spring for the 2020 date. Registration begins March 1 - mark your calendar as this program fills up fast!
