[ARCHIVED] City Council Approves Entertainment District Agreeement

The Quarter web

On Monday, Nov. 4, the Waukee City Council voted to approve an agreement for a massive 40-acre development which will be called "The Quarter." It will be located along Grand Prairie Parkway in Waukee, bringing entertainment, events and office space to the area. Iowa businessman Daniel Pettit is leading the development which he says will become Central Iowa’s premiere entertainment district and bring regional visitors and opportunities into the Waukee area.

“The Quarter is coming to the right place at the right time,” Pettit said. “This area will provide Waukee with entertainment for people of all ages - and become a center of activity and community in Waukee.”

The Quarter plans to bring an entertainment venue which will host at least 75 nights of events a year, multiple hotels and an office park with an additional 9,540 square foot gathering space for small and large events of up to 500 people which can accommodate dinners and corporate events as well as weddings. Funding for the project has been headed by local investment firm Pan and Piper, which has helped The Quarter become a reality.

“This really was a chance for us to bring together a group of investors who see this as an amazing opportunity to bring some amazing amenities and businesses to a community that’s already thriving but has an even brighter future ahead,” said Pan and Piper Partner Allen Stoye. “The Quarter will be an area that will draw people from all around the region to the events and entertainment options. It’s going to be a centerpiece of Central Iowa.”

The Quarter will be located on the west side of Grand Prairie Parkway, just north of I-80 in the Kettlestone Development, which includes an area that already houses several local businesses.

“This part of Waukee has already seen an explosion, and the combination of ease of access to the interstate and the booming population in Waukee has made it an ideal place for my business,” Waukee businessman Joey Hinke said. “This development couldn’t be in a better place to bring some of the resources to this area that were missing from the City of Waukee. The Quarter is going to have benefits for anyone who lives or works in the area.”

With this announcement, the project will be able to move forward and target its opening for 2021.

“This is a very exciting day for Waukee,” Pettit said. “Lots of hard work has gone into getting the project to this point, and we can’t wait to roll up our sleeves and make this a reality for a dynamic community that deserves this sort of attraction.”

More information is available online. Though not all of the details are immediately available publicly, developer Daniel Pettit aims to release more information before the end of the year at a press conference and is available for interviews upon request.
