[ARCHIVED] Meet the Instructors: Countdown to Kindergarten

Meet the Instructors-C2K

Meet the instructors for Countdown to Kindergarten! Read about Megan Trader and Jessica Hammans’ excitement for helping incoming kindergarteners!

Megan Trader: Megan Trader

I have been a teacher in the Waukee Community School District for seven years, teaching students to be engaged learners and active participants in their community. I have a passion for helping students develop their social emotional and academic skills in the classroom through social interactions, hands-on learning experiences and STEM. I look forward to helping incoming kindergarteners practice skills that will promote a successful new adventure in elementary school.

“What does Parks & Recreation mean to you?” To put it simply, Parks & Recreation means the ability for people of all ages to find their passions. I think that Waukee Parks & Rec allows participants to have new experiences by offering a wide range of programs and activities that are accessible to everyone in the community. Waukee Park & Rec participants have the opportunity to connect with other community members and build their own community to encourage and support their passions.

JesJessica Hammanssica Hammans:

I have been a teacher in Waukee for eight years, teaching across different grade levels and within multiple buildings in the district. I believe that integrating academic and social-emotional skills creates an environment where students can do their best learning. I’m excited for the opportunity to work with incoming kindergartners and help to prepare them for their first elementary school experience!
