The City of Urbandale will continue reconstruction of 170th Street from Meredith Drive to Waterford Road as a four-lane roadway with left turn lanes.

170th Street is scheduled to reopen Friday, August 11. There may be occasional lane closures for utilities and restoration. Find project details at Urbandale.org.
Notes from 7/28 update from Urbandale: 170th Street is closed from Sharon Drive to just south of Waterford Road to complete construction of Stages 2 and 3. Plum Drive remains open for school access (access from the north via Waterford Road). The intersection of 170th Street and Waterford Road is now open. All 170th Street mainline paving, including returns and cross-overs, has been completed. Backfill, topsoil re-spread, sidewalk, trail, fencing, pavement markings and restoration are ongoing. For worker and driver safety, the roadway will remain closed during these operations. 170th Street will be re-opened in August prior to school starting; current target date for opening is August 11.
On Wednesday, March 29, 2023, 170th Street will be completely closed to all through traffic from Plum Drive to 100’ north of the Waterford Road intersection. The intersection of Plum Drive will remain open. The intersection of Waterford Road will be closed.
On Monday, April 3, 2023, Meredith Drive will be completely closed to all through traffic from 600’ west of 170th Street to 170th Street. The intersection of 170th Street will remain open.
Detours will be posted for all closures. Local traffic will be maintained. As work progresses, this complete closure will move, and updates will be posted to the City of Urbandale website. The entire project including 170th Street Reconstruction is expected to be completed by late 2023.
