Update: Repairs to SE Westown Parkway are complete and the road is reopened for travel.

Sections of pavement have heaved on SE Westown Parkway between SE L.A. Grant Parkway and SE Florence Drive. This happens when high temperatures cause the pavement to expand and there is not enough space for the pavement to grow. Public Works has closed this street for everyone's safety. Drivers should detour to Ashworth Road and University Avenue during the closure. Staff will work on repairs tomorrow, and we hope to have the street open sometime this weekend.
