During a ceremony held Monday, Mar. 26, Susan Kies was named the Waukee Police Department's 2017 Officer of the Year. Officer Kies received the Officer of the Year honor for her dedicated leadership, service and spirit.
Officer Kies assists with training officers on the department's Tri-Tech system and also downloads car and body camera footage that is needed. She is proactive on patrol, is a positive role model within the Waukee community, and she is always looking for new training opportunities to improve her skills or make the job simpler for fellow officers. Officer Kies never has an issue with being called in to work when needed, and she regularly volunteers her time for events around the Des Moines Metro area. Officer Kies has great knowledge of the residents and growth in the Waukee community. She is being recognized also for her motivation, teamwork and professionalism.
