The Waukee Police Department has implemented a new Community Camera Program. The goal of the program is to deter crime and promote partnership. Residents and business owners can register their security cameras online with the department. Police will only contact registered camera owners if a criminal incident occurs within the vicinity of their property and if the officers think the footage would assist in the investigation.
"We at the Waukee Police Department are excited to grow in our partnership with our community," said Sgt. Mackenzie Sposeto. "We can use these resources provided by our residents to assist us in reported criminal incidences."
