Work is underway on two additional Waukee park projects funded by Dallas County Local Option Sales Tax.
Alice Nizzi Park is located at 715 NE Dellwood Drive; grading and half of the paving were recently completed. It now awaits the delivery and installation of playground equipment. The design of Alice Nizzi Park integrates the history and culture of Waukee’s coal mining community and Alice Nizzi’s lasting impact on the coal mining camps and the community. Alice Nizzi Park is a 3.17-acre neighborhood park located north of Hickman Road and west of Alice’s Road. The park will feature a spaghetti and meatballs-themed playground, rubberized surfacing, sidewalks, a shade structure and historical elements. The anticipated cost to build this park is $625,000. It is expected to open in September 2020.
Grading work has been completed at Glynn Village Park South and the Glynn Village Trailside Amenity. It now awaits the delivery and installation of playground equipment. The South project features the development of a new neighborhood park at 2265 Warrior Lane including concrete paving, a drinking fountain, rubber surfacing, a playground and landscaping. The Trail Amenity will include concrete, engineered mulch, play equipment, seating and trees. The Trail Amenity project is located north of the intersection of Brodie Street and Dunham Drive. Construction of the project is expected to be substantially completed by October 2020 at an approximate cost of $535,000.
