[ARCHIVED] Fitness Court Opening on September 10

Come celebrate the opening of the new outdoor Fitness Court® in Ridge Pointe Park on Wednesday, September 10 at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to join the fun at this free community event. Those 14 years and older can dress in your favorite workout clothes and be one of the first to try out the new equipment after brief remarks and photos. If any changes to times or dates are needed due to weather, you can find updates on this post and our Facebook event page

Please note that the Fitness Court is closed for use until after the ribbon cutting on September 10 as we finish site work. For your safety and to avoid damaging anything, stay out of this area until we officially open the new space. You are welcome to use the rest of Ridge Pointe Park for play and relaxation.

This Fitness Court is an outdoor bodyweight circuit training system with seven stations and shock-resistant sports flooring. Users can leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout using seven stations in just seven minutes. Designed for ages 14 and up, the workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels, and users can also download the free app which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket. The new workout space is in Ridge Pointe Park, located directly adjacent to the regional Heart of the Warrior Trail. Waukee is one of five locations for Fitness Courts in Iowa and the only in the Des Moines metro.

Waukee was selected as a grant partner for the 2025 Healthy Cities Campaign by the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) and received $30,000 toward the outdoor Fitness Court. The Healthy Cities Campaign is part of a national movement to make world-class fitness free and accessible in public spaces across the country. The Campaign’s goal for 2030 is to fund a free outdoor Fitness Court within a 10-minute bike ride of every American which would form the country’s largest interconnected outdoor wellness network.

In addition to the grant from NFC, the City received support from local organizations: Dallas County Foundation, the Rotary Club of Waukee, I-80 Concrete and CrossFit Waukee. We appreciate your generous contributions to bring this exciting new amenity to our community.
