  • If you smell gas, and it is a slight odor, leave the building and move away from the property. Do not shut off light switches or appliances. Once you are safely away from the building, call the Gas Emergency line for MidAmerican Energy at 800-595-5325. If the gas odor is strong, leave the premises right away without turning off any lights or appliances or doing anything that could cause a spark. When you are away from the building, call 911 from a mobile phone or neighbor's phone and then call the MidAmerican Energy emergency line.

  • When a property is platted, steel rods, or “property pins” are placed at the corners of the property lines. These pins will be slightly buried and sometimes covered with a plastic cap. In order to find your property lines, you must find the property pins. If you cannot find your property pins, you may need to have your property surveyed by an independent company at your cost. The City does not locate property pins or property lines.

If needed, the City can provide plat maps and lot dimensions for your property. Call the Community Development Department at 515-978-9533 for more information.
