1. Where can I find information about City services?

2. Can I register my car in Waukee?

Your car must be registered through the Dallas County Treasurer’s Office at the County Courthouse in Adel. For more information, call the Treasurer’s Office at 515-993-5812.

3. When is trash pickup?

Weekly garbage and recycling collection is provided by ASI Monday through Friday. It is recommended that bins be placed on curbs by 7 a.m. on your designated day. View a map to determine your collection day.

4. What type of events should I submit to the Community Events Calendar?

Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the Community Events Calendar on Waukee.org. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

5. When can I have yard waste picked up?

Yard waste pickup is on Mondays from the first of April to the end of November. It is recommended that items be placed on the curb by 7 a.m. Read more details about the program.

6. Can I burn yard waste?

No. Waukee has a ban on open burning. If you wish to burn, you may apply for a variance with the Fire Department by calling 515-978-7998. Note - this ban does not apply to fire pits and barbecue grills. Read more about open burning and fire pits.

7. Do I need to license my pet?

Yes. Dogs and cats must be licensed annually per City ordinance. The City of Waukee has a partnership with PetData to provide its residents with pet licenses. Visit PetData.com to set up a new license. Call 1-855-585-8157 toll-free with questions. Dog and cat licenses cost $15 for altered pets and $25 for unaltered pets. 8. How do I bring up a concern to the Mayor and City Council?

There is an open forum toward the beginning of every regular City Council meeting, during which anyone may speak regarding any subject that is not on that night's agenda for consideration. If you are uncomfortable speaking before the council, you may email them or write a letter outlining your concerns and mail it to:

In your letter or email, include your name, address and phone number. Anonymous complaints or concerns will not be forwarded to the Mayor and Council and therefore cannot be resolved. Direct email addresses and phone numbers can also be found at the link below.

9. What should I do if I suspect a gas leak?

If you smell gas, and it is a slight odor, leave the premises. Do not shut off light switches or appliances. Once you are safely away from the home, call Gas Emergency at 515-249-1212 from a mobile phone or neighbor's phone.

If the gas odor is strong, leave the premises right away and call 911 from a mobile phone or neighbor's phone.

10. How do I locate my property lines?

When a property is platted, steel rods, or “property pins” are placed at the corners of the property lines. These pins will be slightly buried and sometimes covered with a plastic cap. In order to find your property lines, you must find the property pins. If you cannot find your property pins, you may need to have your property surveyed by an independent company at your cost. The city does not locate property pins or property lines.

The city can, however, provide plat maps and lot dimensions for your property. Call the Development Services Department at 515-978-9533 for more information.

11. Where do I go with questions about my property taxes?

12. How do I register to vote in Waukee?

Eligible voters must register with the Dallas County Elections Office in Adel. Call 515-993-6914 for more information. In order to register, you are required to show proof of residency and identity.

Hard copy proof of residency (electronic copies are not accepted) include property tax statement, utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document.

Proof of identity is a current, valid photo ID that contains an expiration date. Some valid identification documents are driver's license, non-driver identification card, U.S. passport, U.S. military ID, ID card issued by employer, or Iowa high school or college ID. 13. I need an absentee ballot for an upcoming election. Where can I get one?

14. Who do I contact about purchasing a plot in Waukee Cemetery?

The Waukee Cemetery is actually overseen by the Walnut Township Board of Trustees, and not the City of Waukee. Contact Kathleen Cady at 515-979-9841 for information on the Waukee Cemetery.
