Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

  1. New Dial-A-Story Recordings

    The Library is excited to offer the Dial-A-Story service! Simply call the Dial-A-Story phone line (515-981-7800) any time to hear a selection of books read aloud by library staff. Listen for as long or as little as you wish. New selections will be recorded twice a month, for infants through elementary-aged students. In May we’re sharing books about space, and we also have a guided meditation to help anyone relax. We will have different sets of stories from May 1-14, and May 15-31. We have rhythmic picture books, nonfiction, and songs and rhymes for babies.

  5. Kid & Pet Safe Houseplants

    Kids and pets alike seem drawn to grabbing and tasting houseplants. And while some houseplants are totally safe, some can make people and animals quite sick. In this free online class, the pros at Ted Lare Garden Center will discuss nontoxic houseplants and how to safely keep toxic houseplants out of harm's way. Whether you’ve got curious kiddos around or pets that like to chew on your houseplants, it’s important to know which houseplants are safe for them. The video of this class will be publicly viewable beginning Saturday, May 22nd at 1:00 pm.

    Dinner Delights freezer meal parties take care of the menu planning, shopping and prepping for dinner. At the end of the party, everyone takes home six meals.
