Community organizations are welcome to submit events to the City of Waukee Events Calendar from the “Add Event” button on the homepage. The City encourages submission of events which cater to the whole community such as pancake breakfasts, free concerts, ribbon cuttings and so on. The Events Calendar is not intended to promote private programming or sales initiatives, or to support a political party or candidate. The City has the right to decline any calendar submissions.

  4. Elementary Coding: Finch Space Transport

    June 19, 2019, 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Waukee Public Library

    All coding classes will use the Scratch programming language to control Finch robots. No prior coding experience is necessary. Students entering 3rd-5th grades in the fall will work in pairs with library staff and teen volunteers. These robots and programs are made possible by a grant from Birdbrain Technologies, LLC. www.birdbraintechnologies.com Registration is required and will open 3 weeks prior to the event. Star Wars fans will enjoy decorating their Finch robots as different space transports, and program them to duel.

    The City of Waukee, the Nature Conservancy in Iowa, Waukee Aspiring Professional Experience (APEX) and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) are supporting Solarize Waukee - the bulk solar group purchase program for residents and businesses located anywhere within the Waukee Community School District boundaries; this covers Waukee and portions of West Des Moines, Clive and Urbandale. The program will provide residents and businesses with the opportunity to invest in their own high-quality renewable energy solar installations with potential savings on installation cost, while also helping businesses reach sustainability goals. Attend this free, informational session about solar energy and Solarize Waukee! No registration is required.

  11. Better Homes & Gardens Test Garden Tour

    June 21, 2019, 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM @ Waukee Public Library

    We’re going on a library field trip! Join us for a private tour of the Better Homes and Gardens Test Garden located in downtown Des Moines. A garden staff member will give a brief talk about the garden and answer questions, then you will be free to stroll around at your leisure. The garden is handicap accessible and has a courtyard area with seating for when you need a break or just want to take a moment to soak up the sun. We will be taking a FREE roundtrip shuttle that will depart from the Waukee Public Library. Please arrive for boarding by 12:20pm, we will be leaving promptly at 12:30pm. If you would like to join us for the tour but do not wish to take the shuttle, you can meet us downtown at 15th & Grand. The tour will begin at 1pm. Registration Required. Registration will begin 3 weeks before the event.

    Join local, certified yoga instructors for Yoga in the Park this summer! Bring a yoga mat or towel to Windfield Park (114 Windfield Parkway) on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from June through August. Yoga sessions will take place from 8-9 a.m. This program is recommended for anyone 8 years and older. The cost is $2 per person. Please pay the instructor when you arrive.
