Hickman Road going eastbound from just east of Peachtree Drive to just east of Alice's Road will be down to one lane April 2-April 19. Crews will be working to remove pavement along Hickman Road as part of the Alice’s Road widening project. Drivers will still be able to turn right onto Alice’s Road.

For fans of the popular book series “I Survived”, these programs provide an engaging, hands-on experience with the history and science behind some of the past’s biggest disasters. Hop on over and fill your baskets full of candy at Waukee's annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Waukee Parks & Recreation Department! Keep an eye out for special golden prize eggs. The hunt is sectioned off into three age groups: 4 & under, 5-7 years old and 8-10 years old. And, you just might catch a glimpse of the Easter Bunny himself.

WASP involves the senior citizens in the Waukee area and aims to "Take the Sting Out of Crime"! WASP was created based upon the concept of cooperation between law enforcement, senior services and seniors in the community to reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly. It stands for Waukee Area Seniors and Police. The group meets the last Wednesday of each month for lunch at the Community Center. Interested seniors should contact the Waukee Police Department.

Elected officials, City staff and community members will gather to honor Eric Kress - Waukee's 2018 Citizen of the Year. Mayor Peard will read a proclamation and will present Kress with a key to the City. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Stop by and congratulate Eric Kress! This reception is open to the public.

Waukee Mayor, Bill Peard, will review the City's accomplishments and highlight future opportunities at the Waukee State of the City address on April 25, 2019.
The annual event will take place at the Waukee Community Center. The luncheon and address will begin at 11:30 a.m., with check in and networking at 11:00 a.m.
The event, which is hosted by the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce, is open to the public. Tickets are on sale now, and may be purchased on the Chamber's website, www.waukeechamber.com, or by contacting the Waukee Chamber at firstname.lastname@example.org or 515-978-7115.

Design, create, and make! Craft Lab is an open-ended, creative space that invites kids to express their imagination in crafting and making. Participants are able to work on creative projects alone, in groups, or with library staff. Each month will explore a different medium of crafting, from jewelry to sewing to painting. For students in K-5th grades. No registration required.

Waukee residents hold many garage sales throughout the City on the Saturday prior to Spring Clean-Up Week. This year's Spring Clean-Up Week is April 30-May 5 which puts the Citywide Garage Sale day on Saturday, April 27, 2019.
Note: This is not a City of Waukee-sponsored event. It is a designated day for private citizens to join many others in hosting garage sales. All advertising and time-setting for the sales is done so on an individual basis.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
Prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding your home of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring pills for disposal. The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Come learn how to collect and utilize rain water at home! City of Waukee Stormwater Inspector Jenny Corkrean will teach you the basics and benefits of rainwater harvesting and the effects storm water has on the environment. Participants will learn how to prevent storm water runoff and how to collect and conserve water with rain barrels. Rain barrel selection, use, and maintenance will be discussed.

The 2019 spring curbside pick-up of large items will be held on typical collection days April 29-May 3. This is a great opportunity to get rid of bulky waste like furniture and other similar items. Please have your items on the curb before 7 a.m. Curbside pick-up does not apply to those living in associations or complexes WITH PRIVATE TRASH COLLECTION. For hazardous waste, tires and appliances, drop-off stations will be open on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Please see webpage to the right for details.

The program will provide residents and businesses with the opportunity to invest in their own high-quality renewable energy solar installations with potential savings on installation cost, while also helping businesses reach sustainability goals.
