Preparing to Fish

Those wishing to buy a fishing license, explore maps, get Iowa fishing regulations and learn more can visit the DNR website. In Waukee, residents and visitors can purchase fishing licenses in-person at Fleet Farm, located at 1300 SE Kettlestone Blvd. Per Iowa's fishing regulations, the daily limit for bluegills is 25. The daily limit for bass is 3, but bass must be at least 15 inches long to keep. Releasing bass back into the waterbody helps maintain healthy fish populations. In Iowa, a trout stamp is required to fish for trout. Fees from the stamp support the stocking program to continue bringing this opportunity to Iowans.
