Triumph Park is located north of Hickman Road and east of North 10th Street adjacent to Waukee’s Northwest High School.
The 66-acre Triumph Park features a sports complex with 12 softball/baseball fields, practice areas, concessions, accessible restrooms and 750 parking spaces. The complex serves local ball teams as well as large tournaments for visitors across the region and nation. The 11-acre pond amenity serves as both a fishing destination and a major stormwater management feature. Greenspaces can be used for play and events, and three miles of trails connect to area neighborhoods and regional trail systems.
The Waukee Betterment Foundation raised $2.7 million to help fund accessible features at Triumph Park. These include the Waukee EPIC Inclusive Playground designed by Landscape Structures Inc. The firm builds only one EPIC Playground every year, and Waukee’s was the most inclusive of its size at opening in June 2022. The 15,000-square-foot playground features mobility device access at various levels, rubberized surfacing for accessibility and safety, a seating wall, sensory features, STEM panels, shade structures, and accessible parking and restrooms. Other inclusive features include the Greater Iowa Credit Union Miracle League® Field which hosts games for players of all abilities, and the ADA-compliant fishing pier. Apple, Inc. donated $1 million to help fund this project.
In addition to visitors coming to enjoy the many amenities, professionals have come from around the region to tour the park. Our Parks & Recreation staff have hosted leaders from other Parks & Recreation departments from across Iowa and neighboring states as well as been interviewed by trade publications for the recreation industry on some of the unique features used around the park.
