Greater Iowa Credit Union Miracle League® Field
The Greater Iowa Credit Union Miracle League® Field serves baseball players with special needs, providing them the chance to experience America's favorite pastime. The field is centered in the heart of the baseball complex at beautiful Triumph Park.
The Miracle League removes the barriers which may prevent these aspiring athletes from playing baseball, such as natural grass fields used in conventional leagues. Miracle League teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices while helping to prevent injuries.
But it’s more than playing a game. The Miracle League is about making new friends, building self-esteem and being treated just like other athletes. To help the athletes, the Miracle League uses a “buddy” system – pairing each player with an able-bodied peer. The result is a bond that cannot be described.

Miracle League is a 6-week baseball league for kids ages 5-19 with special needs, whether physical, emotional, social or cognitive, who want to play baseball. The Spring Season for this non-competitive, coed league runs in April/May and the Fall Season runs in September with games played on Saturday mornings, 9-10 a.m. at Triumph Park.
Register for the fall season at Waukee.org/Registration. Click on Register for Activities and then search "Miracle League."
Games follow these rules:
- Each game consists of two innings
- Every player bats once each inning
- All players are safe on the bases
- Every player scores a run before the inning is over (last one up gets a home run)
- All games end in a tie
- Community volunteers serve buddies to assist the players throughout the game
Volunteers and volunteer coaches are needed!
Umpire the game, become our mascot, Homer, or pair up with a player as a "buddy," cheering them on and helping them through the game. Volunteer all 6 weeks or pick and choose based on your availability. Volunteer with friends or as a family; volunteers as young as 14 are welcome to participate. If younger students want to help, they can volunteer alongside a parent. The parent will fill out the volunteer form. Sign up today.
Organizations that want to bring a group of volunteers are welcome. Email Laura Stanish, Recreation Coordinator, to arrange a date.
